South Florida’s hundreds and hundreds of runners would lace up for the Miami Marathon and Half Marathon on Sunday, but drivers in the region would have to practice patience. This is because the event would close down different parts of the South Miami Avenue, Biscayne Boulevard, South Bayshore Drive, North Miami Avenue, Venetian Causeway and MacArthur Causeway throughout the day. Still, all vehicles would be able to get to every residences and businesses in affected regions.
On Sunday morning, there would be some lane diminutions going east on MacArthur Causeway from 6:15 am to 8:15 am and on Venetian Causeway traveling westbound from 6:45 am till 9:30 pm. From, 6:30 am, drivers on N Miami Avenue between fifteenth and Flagler Street might experience delays till 10:30 am because of lane closures.
Traffic on the S Miami Avene between SW fifteenth and SW thirty second might experience delays from 6:35 am till 11:00 am. On S Bayshore, between MCFarlane and HaLasee St from 7:00 am till noon.
The police officers in Miami would be on hand to serve direct traffic. Drivers must carefully plan t heir paths mainly during morning hours during the event time. The race course starts at 6:15 am at the AmericanAirlines Arena, leads north and goes on via Miami Beach, Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Little Havana and Downtown Miami before coming back downtown for an end at Bayfront Park.
Around twenty five thousand walkers and runners are expected to take part in 12th annual event. Family members, friends as well as enthusiastic spectators would line 26.2 mile path to cheer on runners.
